When does the course start? Are the modules live or can I watch them whenever I want?
When you enroll, you’ll get instant access to the course, but the live portion will kick off on October 2nd (that’s when our live coaching calls will start, and when you can begin using our community forum for asking questions as you move through the coursework).
Between now and then, you’ll see (once you login to the course), we have a little pre-work for you 😊 nothing crazy, but it will help set you up for success when the live portion begins, AND it will allow my development team to collect some info from you in advance so we can hit the ground running.
Feel free to begin watching the first week of content, or after you complete your pre-work, just sit back and relax until the course starts 😎.
All of the course modules are pre-recorded and can be watched at any time. Our coaching sessions will be live and are optional, and will be recorded if you’re not able to attend them. You’ll get more details on how to attend these once you enroll.
Do I own the site and all the content after it’s launched?
Yes! That’s the beauty of WordPress – it’s all yours. We’re giving you our page templates, stock photo library, content prompts, and other templates for you to use freely, forever.
Can I sign up if I already have a website?
Yes! If you already have a website on another platform (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, etc.) and would like to redesign your site using our template and have your blogs moved from your prior site to WordPress, you’ll have the option to add on our migration service ($250 or $500 one-time fee – price will depend on your website situation) when you purchase the course.
In general, here’s how our migration service works:
We’ll set up your site on our hosting (or if you want to stick with your current hosting, we’ll create a staging site on your hosting), and a temporary domain so your current website continues to operate while you work on your new one. We’ll import your blog posts and images. When you’re ready for your new site to go live, we’ll take care of updating your domain settings to show your new website, and ensure the migration is complete. In a nutshell, we take care of all the technical aspects of bringing over your blog posts and images from your other website to your new site, and seamlessly make your new website live (so there is no interruption for visitors on your website). It’s worth it!
After you purchase the course, the next screens will walk you through our migration options in detail, and from there you can select which one works for you, and add it to your purchase. If you ever have any questions about your unique situation, email us at info@whitneybateson.com.
What theme/pagebuilder is used for the website?
You have the option of either using Divi or Elementor.
Divi: Includes the Divi Theme and Pagebuilder, with a custom Child Theme created specifically for The Dietitian Website System. The Divi pagebuilder is one of the most user-friendly, flexible website building tools out there, and we’ve successfully used it on dozens of RD sites. We provide access to this premium theme/pagebuilder to all course participants for free (a $249 value).
Elementor: Includes a lightweight Child Theme created specifically for The Dietitian Website System, compatible with the Elementor Pro page builder (normally $59/year but available to you through the course at a 25% discount, or $44/year). We’ll install Elementor and our theme on your site so it’s ready to go! Elementor is a fast, easy-to-use pagebuilder that’s especially great for blog-focused websites (it has advanced features to allow for more custom displays of your content). If you’re currently focused on blogging as a revenue generator (i.e. for ads), or plan to integrate this into your business in the next 1-2 years, then Elementor may be the right choice for you.
If you’re not sure which builder you’d like to use, don’t worry – we’ll go over them in more detail at the beginning of the course.
How many hours should I expect to spend each week in the course?
This will vary based on your business and situation, but prior students have said they spend anywhere from 4-8 hours a week.
Are there other things I’ll need to buy to get my site launched?
You’ll need to purchase a domain, and we recommend you sign up for, at a minimum, a scheduling tool and email marketing platform. We provide recommendations for these tools within the course; some of these can be used for free, or for a monthly subscription.
If you choose Elementor for your pagebuilder, we’ll provide you with a subscription for the Pro version at a 25% discount off its normal price of $59/year (so you’ll get a license from us for $44/year). We’ll provide more details about this when we set up your site.
Can I preview the page layouts?
Yes! Visit template.whitneybateson.com to check them out. You’ll learn how to customize every aspect of the templates (from changing colors, fonts, photos, to swapping around sections and modules to really make it fit your brand and business).
Do I need to purchase hosting or worry about maintaining/securing my site after it’s launched?
Nope! We have you covered there. We will be setting up your site on our hosting platform and maintenance system (joining 85+ nutrition businesses who happily have their sites hosted and maintained by us!). You’ll get 2 months’ hosting and maintenance for free when you sign up for the course. After 2 months, you’ll be billed $65/month for us to continue to host and maintain your site.
Specifically, this service includes:
- Managed WordPress hosting
- Daily website updates (WordPress core, themes, plugins)
- Daily Backups and monitoring
- Daily Uptime scans and monitoring
- Daily Security scans and monitoring
- Website restore if your website goes down
- Weekly reports of updates performed, backups performed, and results of uptime and security scans
- Email-based support for small site questions/projects (up to 15 minutes per month)
- For larger questions, troubleshooting, or updates that exceed 15 minutes, billed at $125/hour (we always give you an estimate and get your approval before work is started!)
Is this course only for dietitians?
This course was created by a dietitian (Whitney!), with nutrition business owners in mind, but we believe the concepts we have integrated into our templates and in our course can apply to a variety of health and wellness businesses.
