In the age of everyone being online, and entrepreneurs (and entrepreneurs-to-be) need a website that pulls its weight.
It’s like a blue-ribbon recipe: designing a website is a process that incorporates your company vision and voice, a big scoop of SEO, and your ability to navigate the tech side of things, all of which is placed on a foundation of good strategy.
If not? Your website is going to get lost in the sea of lackluster websites.
What is a savvy entrepreneur to do? Design a website that will work hard for you 24/7!
That’s exactly what we do at The Wellness Pro Website System. We partner with wellness professionals like you to launch an effective website that boosts your business without tech headaches or stress (and we’ve got the testimonials and portfolio to prove it).
In this article, we’ll walk you through the strategy that will guide your new business website so that it is an investment in your business, not a flop on your finances.
First up? The million-dollar question – do you even need a website?
Do nutrition & wellness businesses need a website?
Yes!
When a potential client is considering your services, they are going to Google you.
Their first stop? Your website.
A website is your digital storefront – it is usually the first “face” of your business that customers will see and a place for them to learn more about what you do and how to work with you. With the right website, you get to create a great first impression of yourself and your business.
While many businesses utilize social media, online directories, local business listings, and other platforms to promote their businesses, there’s a misconception that these REPLACE your website. Rather, they are ATTRACTION methods that should be used to drive traffic to your website.
Plus, relying solely on these options has its limitations. They’re not “owned” by you, nor can they fully convey the same level of professionalism or build trust the way a website can.
Your website allows you to establish your online presence and tell your story to customers in a way that helps them know, like, and trust you. It helps them see how awesome it would be to work with you!
3 steps to design a business webpage that works
There are countless websites out there…but many of them are doing nothing to grow their owner’s business.
Why? Because far too many sites are launched without a winning strategy.
Maybe they are hard to navigate and don’t work well on mobile phones. Or the site’s design doesn’t accurately represent the brand or form a connection with visitors. The words used on the site may feel generic or technical – and visitors end up getting bored or confused as to what the business offers, so they leave. It could also be that the site isn’t well-optimized for SEO, so no one ever comes to the site in the first place.

At its core, a website needs a few non-negotiable ingredients in order to have a winning (income-generating) recipe:
So, stop throwing spaghetti at the wall and follow a proven process to launch your business website. Let’s pull back the curtain on our comprehensive process.
What’s our approach to building successful websites?
How do we do it? Let’s walk through the process we follow within The Wellness Pro Website System to create websites for our clients that get them more traffic, sales, and customers.
One of our WPWS students, Jessica, shared,
“This was so worth the investment, and I’m so insanely proud of my website. I’m just really proud of the product that came out of roughly five weeks of work. It’s really, really cool. My old contact form never got any interest…literally just crickets. Now I’m getting two calls a week from my website.”
You’re already a professional health expert – you don’t also have to become a website, marketing, and SEO wiz; we can support you and boost your business!
First step? Build your website on the right platform.
1. Start on the best platform.
We recommend starting with the end in mind: a functional, flexible, and beautiful website. The best? WordPress, hands down.
While there are many other options out there (Squarespace, Wix, and others-that-shall-not-be-named), they simply don’t work as well, so we don’t recommend them. At all.
We explain everything in this post: Squarespace vs. WordPress & Beyond: Which Platform Wins for Your Website?
2. Goal-oriented strategy
Your website always needs to keep the big picture in mind. How does your business make money while solving important problems?
The Wellness Pro Website System creates websites that knock it out of the park. A website that attracts new readers through SEO-driven strategy and converts those readers into leads and then some of those leads become happy clients. They tell their friends and your business grows!
Your business success rests on having a functional website that works as a comprehensive sales system.

3. Strong branding
Your business brand is far more than just a logo and a color palette (although those do play a part).
Your branding is going to be driven by your unique voice, and the services you offer and is all designed to connect with and build trust with your ideal client. We want your branding to be representative of how your relationship will be with your customers.
Of course, there is more to branding than we can capture in one small section. For our full post about branding (including a free branding workbook), click here: How to Create a Health and Wellness Brand.
4. Captivating copy
What is copy? The words on your website that build trust and value with your readers and then (wham, bam, thank you, ma’am) encourage them to take action to work with you.
Copy is also known as sales writing, which can initially give wellness professionals a case of the icks: who wants to sound “sales-y” ?
Let’s take a deep breath and remember that you’re not in business to volunteer – you’re offering helpful service options and genuinely improving your client’s lives. You deserve fair compensation for that! And, just providing education and value through blogs and other assets is not enough to nudge your readers to become clients; you need to offer a clear and confident invitation for them to engage with your services.
Writing copy is a whole skill set to master and one we provide extensive support with as a member of our program. To begin, check out this post with 9 Website Copywriting Tips to get started.

5. Eye-catching design
The words on your website matter, but it also matters how they’re displayed. Design, including formatting, colors, and fonts all matter.
Think about an outfit of the day. If you’re scrolling on Instagram, you’ll see curated outfits assembled with the perfect accessories and displayed in flattering lighting. Compare that to those same clothes in a pile on your floor? Same clothes just displayed completely differently (and we know which one is more exciting to look at).
6. Seamless sales process
Have you ever found a treasure while browsing the cute local stores while on vacation, only to be dismayed that the vendor only takes cash…and you’re standing there with your credit card?
No one likes to be confused or surprised. On your website, your sales process needs to be completely clear. How do your services work? What are the first things a prospective client needs to do? How can they ask questions? What is included and excluded?
If readers are confused about what to do, how much this will cost, what to expect or the value you provide, they’re going to keep looking.
With the right sales process in place, things are far simpler. This is what Beth found after launching her new website with our program:
“New appointment in my book that I didn’t have to schedule due to the new website!! This client found me online after having met me in a talk in January!!!”
How exciting is that?
7. Email list building
For many folks, the idea of booking your services after just discovering you is a bit like agreeing to elope after a first date.
Instead, many of your visitors will benefit from a bit of time to get to know you. What’s a business owner to do when there are only so many hours in the day? Have a great newsletter to nurture and provide value to your readers. Once they’ve built trust with you, they’re going to be much more likely to then book your services.

8. SEO & client attraction
How do you attract the right people to your website? There is a lot to consider and it is all wrapped up into three little letters: SEO (search engine optimization).
In the wide world of the internet, Google is working hard to display accurate, relevant content to each and every person using their tool for information. Good news, as registered dietitians and healthcare professionals, we already have a leg up by being the experts in our field.
From there, we do need to learn the basics of how to write content that works to grow our reputation and audience online. Some of those readers are going to be your next clients!
